John Mark McMillan Returns to Worship With New Album ‘Cosmic Supreme’

NASHVILLE, TENN. (APRIL 04, 2025)
Platinum-selling songwriter John Mark McMillan releases his first worship music in over eight years after a season where he hadn’t touched or written worship music. Today breaks that silence with his new album release, Cosmic Supreme (Anotherland), available everywhere.

“There was a season of my life when I started to think I wouldn’t write conventional worship music anymore,” shares John Mark McMillan. “Then life forced me to slow down and I began to catch myself singing little praise choruses in the quiet hours of my daily routine. I wasn’t going to record them. I didn’t even write all of them down at first. But eventually, I found that my days had become pleasantly haunted by these sweet worship songs. So, I started to feel like maybe they deserved a home. I guess my heart had something it needed to say to God, even if I didn’t know it. My greatest hope for this collection of songs is that they would dignify our tendency to lean into the mystery of God again.”

John Mark McMillan is the writer of top CCLI songs “How He Loves” and “King of My Heart” with his songs that he has written being streamed more than 600M times. He has a longstanding career of intentional and artful collaboration with artists like Joy Williams, War + Treaty, Sleeping At Last, Owl City, Ben Rector, Pat Barrett, Josh Garrels, and Bear Rinehart.

Today, two versions of Cosmic Supreme are released: the standard album version and the deluxe album that includes additional live, acoustic, and instrumental versions with 22 total tracks on Cosmic Supreme: SUPREME. There are also 10 lyric videos and four live videos that were recorded in North Carolina, watch here. Additionally, he will hit the road next month with Citizens playing this new music. He adds, “While realize I don’t, and may never, have all (or even many) of the ‘answers,’ I still have a deep love for God that I feel privileged, and delighted to share with the world. Maybe that’s enough. Maybe it always has been.”
