Quartz Hill Records’ newest signing, soulful country pop duo 2 Lane Summer, today released their second song on the label, a romantic Christian hip-hop collaboration, “God Made You (feat. Kieran the Light).” The genre-bending track is available now across all digital retail and streaming partners.
The original version of “God Made You”, which 2 Lane Summer’s Joe Hanson and Chris Ray released independently before signing with Quartz Hill Records, has earned nearly 1.5 million streams to date, helping 2 Lane Summer to amass more than 365,000 social media followers. The original track was penned by Hanson and Ray, alongside hit songwriters Mike Mobley (Rascal Flatts’ Platinum-certified “Easy”) and Ash Bowers (Matt Stell’s No. 1 “Prayed for You”). The hip-hop remix of “God Made You” adds Kieran the Light as a fifth writer and was co-produced by Bowers and John Stephens.
“When our producers first sent Chris and me a mix of the new track, it took our breath away,” says Hanson. “Kieran is so talented and he’s got such a loyal fanbase, so it was a no-brainer for us to work together. This new version of ‘God Made You’ has a little bit of something for everyone – it’s still country pop with a Christian-centered lyric but it’s also now got the hip-hop sound that you might hear in the clubs.”
“We had a blast working with Kieran and it just felt natural,” adds Ray. “We wanted to write a song for every woman to know that she’s special. Women are the greatest gifts given to men – I truly believe that – so that’s why we wrote, ‘Baby, that’s why God made you.’”
“When 2 Lane Summer’s producer sent me the track and said I could rap on the open sections, I really related to the chorus, so my part only took me maybe 20 or 30 minutes because all I had to do was think about my wife,” says Kieran the Light. “I’m open to these kinds of collaborations because I’m trying to make sure that I’m able to adapt to any song or any genre and just show my overall versatility in trying to spread the gospel.”
2 Lane Summer’s signature warm piano chords underscore Kieran the Light’s hip-hop poetry about the divine nature of love – I know everything about who you are is everything God intended – with 2 Lane Summer’s lush harmonies soaring in the track’s chorus:

The original version of “God Made You” will be featured on 2 Lane Summer’s debut EP for Quartz Hill Records, The Love Songs, scheduled for release on March 28.
