3 Doors Down’s Brad Arnold Shares Emotional Message Revealing Stage 4 Cancer Diagnosis ‘We Serve a Mighty God’

Brad Arnold, the longtime lead vocalist of the multi-platinum rock band 3 Doors Down, has revealed a personal and powerful health battle—stage four clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC), a form of kidney cancer that has spread to his lung. Despite the seriousness of the diagnosis, Arnold’s response is one of peace, courage, and unwavering trust in God.

In a heartfelt video message shared earlier today (Wednesday, May 7), Arnold addressed fans directly:

“Hey, everybody, it’s Brad from 3 Doors Down. I hope you’re having a great day today. I’ve got some not-so-good news for you… I had clear cell renal carcinoma that had metastasized into my lung. And it’s stage four, and that’s not real good. But you know what? We serve a mighty God, and he can overcome anything. So I have no fear. I really, sincerely am not scared of it at all.”

Arnold went on to announce that the band’s summer tour has been cancelled so he can focus on treatment. He humbly asked for prayers from fans, ending his message with a nod to 3 Doors Down’s 2008 hit: “I think it is time for me to maybe go listen to ‘It’s Not My Time’ a little bit.”

Throughout his career, Arnold has been increasingly open about his Christian faith. Over the past year, during concerts on the Creed reunion tour, he frequently shared messages about Jesus, often encouraging audiences with words of hope, purpose, and the transformative power of faith. He has credited his relationship with Christ for helping him overcome addiction and navigate the highs and lows of life on and off stage.

In an industry where vulnerability and faith can be rare, Arnold’s testimony stands out. He continues to remind fans that even in the face of fearsome news, there is peace in knowing the One who holds tomorrow.

As he begins treatment, Arnold’s Christian brothers and sisters across the world are lifting him up in prayer, trusting that the same God who’s brought him through so much before will be with him in this fight as well.
